Winter Solstice marks the precise midpoint of the year, which had us thinking that it’s also the perfect time to split the G.

I whipped out my lime-scented smelly marker, scamped the idea, pitched it, booked a photographer, and hit venues in time for sunset.

We went on to create venue-specific posters timed to frame the setting sun, lining it up to split the ‘G’ in Guinness as it passed.

It was the first time Guinness officially embraced the cultural ritual. And the only time my Irish Dad has shown his friends my work.
